FloDesk Review From An OBM: What’s New With FloDesk?

If you’ve been in my world for any length of time, you know I’m a long time Flodesk fangirl. TBH I have THREE FloDesk accounts… one for each of my businesses. It’s a bit excessive, but at least you know I’m a true OG and not just blowing smoke.

FloDesk has made lots of updates over the years. Whenever I get the update, 95% of the time I’m like YES!! About time. Their new updates are no different. They’re keeping up with the times, if you will.

I’ve logged into a lot of email platforms where it honestly feels like opening up an old Windows computer from 2003. Nothing about it makes you want to sit down and write an email. With FloDesk, it actually feels nice to be there. Ahhhh, feels like home. It sounds cheesy, but when the tool feels good to use, you’re way more likely to show up consistently, which is incredibly important when growing a brand now a days.

I’m an Online Business Manager. As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs about FloDesk, I work in all kinds of email marketing platforms on a weekly basis. None of them are 100% perfect and some are better suited for certain types of businesses.

FloDesk is made for creatives and small businesses. As much as we’d all like to think aesthetics don’t matter, they do to a large majority of people. The great thing, FloDesk isn’t just about aesthetics. They’ve got aesthetics, simplicity and systems down pat.

One thing we all know for sure is that competition in 2025–2026 is fierce. We’re fighting for visibility in a sea full of other business owners, therefore user experience from start to finish is important. Legacy builders often feel clunky and we’re not about to hire a designer for emails #budget. FloDesk is powerful enough for experienced marketers without being completely overwhelming and overly complex.

Most businesses aren’t gathering superrrrr in depth analytics. They just want to see “Did people open this?” “Did anyone click?” “Did that launch email do anything at all?” and then make simple decisions based off that. You don’t need a giant data dashboard to run a sustainable online business.

You need clear, basic info and a platform that does not make you want to throw your laptop out of a moving vehicle.

If you’ve got a modern, creative brand and small business where you want to communicate with your customers and nurture your leads without feeling like you have to take a 3 hour masterclass to send a simple newsletter, FloDesk is your go to.

I wanted to highlight some of my favourite new features since my last blog!

Automations.

For a lot of business owners that I’ve worked with over the years, the term automations makes their eyes glaze over.

Ew, David. I’d rather not.

But the reality is, automations are a staple in online business. Sorry.

FloDesk has updated their workflow builder.

It’s catching up to other more advanced platforms, without becoming too overwhelming for the average non-techy business owner who just wants to serve their clients. Whether you're creating a simple welcome sequence, a nurture funnel, a sales sequence, or a full post purchase experience, the updated automations feel approachable. Always a win!

To give you an example, think about someone grabbing your freebie on a random Tuesday night. With the new builder, it’s really easy to set things up so they get the freebie, a couple of “get to know me” emails, then are gently invited into an offer if it makes sense. You aren’t sitting there manually sending anything. You set it up once and let it quietly do its thing in the background while you serve your clients and live your life.

Another new update is with FloDesk Checkouts.

One of my clients used to run their digital product sales through ThriveCart while managing all their email marketing in Flodesk, and let me tell ya. It was a headache trying to keep everything talking to each other. Now, with new integrations, that issue is gone.

No third party drama-lama. And if there’s one thing you’ll hear me say over and over, it’s that 99% of the time, simple is ALWAYS better in business.

Flodesk Checkout has been a game changer for me, personally as well. I can create a simple sales page, checkout, and post purchase delivery and email sequence all in one place. So when someone buys a guide they check out, get the download, and get added to a nurture sequence automatically. I didn’t need to duct tape five different tools together to make it happen. It’s easy peasy.

From the customer side, it just feels smooth. Sans weird redirects or wondering “did that payment go through?” They see your brand, they buy from your brand, they hear from your brand. Win. Win. Win.

The newest updates make FloDesk one of the strongest platforms for small businesses in 2025 (i think). It’s modern and easy to use for small businesses and their owners who don't want to spend anyyyyyy more time on their laptop than needed.

Overall, what do you want in your email marketing platform? You want it to be a user friendly platform so you’ll actually use it consistently. You want to get the analytics you need without being too complex. You want your emails to be a great reflection of your overall brand (especially if you’ve invested in professional branding). You want your workflows to be effective and reliable.

Great. FloDesk can deliver on those things, no problem.

You won’t catch me saying that FloDesk is 100% perfect, all the time. Literally no platform is and if someone were to say that… eh, they’re probably not all that trustworthy, lol. But all in all, I recommend FloDesk to small businesses. As mentioned, I have 3 FloDesk accounts so clearly I’m a true fan. (My husband tells me I’m not allowed to start any other businesses, lol).

In FloDesk’s words, they want to design emails people love to get. And that’s really the whole point, right? If people don’t open your emails and enjoy reading them, what’s the freakin point?

Every email you send is a brand touchpoint and your audience is forming an impression before they even read a word.

If you’ve been thinking “I should really clean up my email situation” this is your sign. You can try FloDesk for free! I also have a code (I’m a FloDesk Partner) where you can save 25% off your entire first year! Yeehaw! Click here to try it out!
